The island of La Graciosa hosted with great success the IV Latin Sailing Meeting Isla de La Graciosa - Fundación Líneas Romero Trophy, held between November 30 and December 1. The event brought together enthusiasts of this traditional nautical sport, consolidating itself as a cultural and sporting reference in the Canary Islands.
The event, which included the participation of 14 skiffs and teams from different islands, stood out not only for the quality of the competitions, but also for the atmosphere that characterizes this discipline. With harsh weather conditions, they managed to get out on the water on Saturday, but the test had to be canceled in the end.
On Sunday, the wind accompanied, giving a little respite and allowing two regattas to be held. Di Napoli - Isidoro y Manuela III was the winner of the meeting, skippered by José Pascual Perdomo, with second place going to Tritón - Deportes Yaiza by Cristian Sánchez and third to Furia II by Estanislao Bethencourt.
The meeting culminated with the awards ceremony, which was attended by Olivia Duque, Mayor of Teguise, who, after congratulating the winners and thanking the organization for their impeccable work, stressed "the importance of preserving and promoting Latin sailing as a unique cultural heritage of the Archipelago, this being a weekend where passion and effort have been celebrated."
Luis Toledo, President of the Canary Islands Federation of Latin Sailing Skiffs, stressed "the importance of promoting sailing in the islands." He also "thanked the Líneas Romero Foundation and the Teguise City Council for their commitment to this type of event."
Finally, Federico Romero, president of the Líneas Romero Foundation, thanked "the support of the attendees and participants who made it possible, and reaffirmed his commitment to continue promoting native sport from the Foundation."
An unforgettable experience for the new generations
The children's workshops were consolidated as one of the most special moments of this edition, awakening the creativity and environmental awareness of the little ones. Led by Álvaro Guzmán, they managed to connect children with their natural environment and maritime culture, leaving an indelible mark on all attendees.
In addition, Mr. Ciguarro was present, who, through a performance through the streets, drew the attention of those who were visiting the eighth island that day, to raise awareness about the importance of keeping spaces clean, free of cigarette butts.

Thanks to the collaboration of Líneas Romero, numerous attendees had the opportunity to experience the excitement of the competitions from the specially equipped boat, enjoying the spectacular landscape of La Graciosa and the splendor of this Canarian tradition.
