The San José Obrero Handball Club, which celebrates 30 years of history, began the preseason under the orders of the new coach Jesús Casanova. During the month of August, the coach will take the opportunity to get the renovated team up to the necessary rhythm, adapting it to the new game system. Casanova believes that this year it will be important to arrive in good physical shape since the Basque group has always been characterized by being very physically tough teams, with a lot of contact and size.

During the preseason, San José will face various tournaments, starting with the San Ginés tournament, which on the 19th, will pit them against Tenerife's Tres de Mayo, and later, without a specific date yet, against a Danish team and the Nigerian national team, a match that will celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Club's founding.

The squad that will fight to maintain their stay in the First Division for another year without major worries is almost closed with the following players: Alex, Rubén, Sergio Bonilla, Luis Aparicio, Ángel Bonilla. Rubén Villa, Luis Morín, Felipe Martín, Alejandro Bonilla, José Carmona, Marcos Cedrés and with the additions of: Carmelo Álvarez, Javi, Echedey Quintero, Fermín García, José Hassan, and Nico. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the fact that all the players, except Alex, are players from the Lanzarote youth academy with an average age of 22 years. In the purely anecdotal field, it is worth noting the presence in the squad, for the first time, of three brothers: Sergio, Ángel and Alejandro.

In the chapter of departures, the simultaneous retirement of great names of Lanzarote handball is significant, such as Gabriel Alberdi, Pedro Noda, Paco Hernández, Carlos García and that of their captain, David de la Hoz, who has decided not to commit for work reasons. For the members of the board of directors, "it is an important loss for this year, we have opted for very young players with inexperience in the category. However, we must respect personal decisions since they are of a priority nature since we are a totally amateur club. He will remain linked to the club but we will miss him on the field."

The league starts on September 25. On the first day, San José must travel to Santander, where they will play their first match against the Cantabrian team Adelma BM Sinfín.

Regarding the sponsorship of the team, the board of directors chaired by Israel González has once again reached an agreement in principle with the sports brand "•3.14" for the clothing of the first team and the handball school, while it is expected to continue for another year with the invaluable collaboration of its main sponsor, the Hotel Lancelot.

Finally, the winner of the competition for the creation of the 30-year logo is already known. The first prize went to the young Alexander Alvarado. It will become the image of the club during this season in tribute to all the social mass that has passed through the entity over the years. Another project that the board is working on is the creation of the website where fans can consult all the activities and current affairs of the club.
