Martín Guerrero surprised everyone last Sunday in the Elite race by entering in position number 17 of the general list, the second best time in the final of a Spanish championship by a Canarian triathlete, only comparable to the time obtained in the year 2000 by Víctor Ramírez, another triathlete from the club, now retired, who achieved the fourteenth position.

The Spanish Triathlon Championships for Elite and Age Groups had a successful representation of the Lanzarote triathletes from the Club Triatlón Playa Grande thanks also to the magnificent performance of Miguel González Padrón, 62 years old who improved his time by almost 20 minutes compared to last year and won the Silver medal in the 60-65 age group. Tony Crodford was classified first in his 45-50 group, so he won the Gold medal.

In addition, the triathletes from Tridente Tinajo offered a good performance in San Juan de Los Terreros, achieving Óscar Padrón the Silver medal in the 17-19 category. On the other hand, Miguel Duque, achieved the tenth position in the 25-30 category and Aléxis Perdomo, the fourteenth position in the 30-35 category. The good debut of Omar Delgado in the Elite category also stood out, as he was in 64th place.

The displacement of the Lanzarote triathletes to Almería was carried out thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the Tías City Council, Centro Deportivo Fariones, Covertura-Tecnosound and Viajes La Tegala. The Spanish men's champion 2006 was Francisco Javier Gómez Noya, while the champion was Ana Burgos Acuña.
