The restaurant of the San José Castle has been selected as 'Repsol Guide Restaurant 2026', a preliminary phase to the possibility of obtaining a Repsol Sun in the future and a category superior to the recommendation that it achieved in 2021, according to sources from the Tourist Centers informed Ekonomus.

Regarding its gastronomic offer, Repsol highlights that "it has completely changed under the advice of chef Orlando Ortega, owner of the Lilium restaurant in the Marina de Arrecife of Lanzarote". Also that "the wine list is entirely composed of wineries belonging to the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote and the island's craft beers".

The counselor of the Centers, Ángel Vázquez, has wanted to congratulate and publicly thank “the entire human team of the restaurant” for obtaining an award “which is the sector's greatest recognition of the effort, enthusiasm, work, and creativity of restoration professionals”.

“It is an achievement that supports our strategy and represents an incentive to continue working and position the Tourist Centers in the place they deserve.” Furthermore, he wanted to convey his gratitude to all clients “who have trusted in the project and have helped us grow.”

The people in charge of the Repsol Guide have considered that "the restaurant of the Castle of San José is one of those places that can be visited many times during the year, where the client feels at home and can enjoy a rich gastronomy, made with all the affection".

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the transformation of the old 'Fortress of Hunger' into a museum and restaurant driven by César Manrique.
