The twenty-seventh edition of the Canary Islands "Solidarity" Championship of 5-Meter Latin Sail Dinghies closed this Saturday in Fuerteventura, with the celebration of the last two races programmed by the organizers. The wind blew with less intensity, which made it possible to see more tactical races in the bay of Corralejo (Fuerteventura). The regularity shown by Congelados Africamar, a dinghy skippered by Nete Armas, allowed it to revalidate the title of Canary Islands Latin Sail Champion.

The intensity of the wind decreased compared to the first two days of competition, which forced the boats to be more tactical when choosing the best area of the race course. A Saturday in which the 21 dinghies registered in the XXVII Canary Islands "Solidarity" Championship of 5-Meter Latin Sail Dinghies were in the water, highlighting the participation of Breña Baja-Isla de La Palma, which could not compete in the first two days.

The Fayna, skippered by Gonzalo Morales, was the one that best read the wind conditions in the first race of the day, mounting each of the buoys on the race course in first place. The Congelados Africamar, by Nete Armas, took the second position, a position that was enough to take the momentary lead in the competition. The third place went to Gran Vito, skippered by Santiago Santander.

The rest of the positions in the first race on Saturday were for Grúas San Ginés-Helly Hansen (4th), Pescamar Titerroy (5th), Playa Blanca (6th), Biosfera Express La Graciosa (7th), Furia (8th), Digitalium (9th), Impermeabilizaciones Jorge´s (10th), Sofcam - Canarias Ambiental (11th), CID Náuticos (12th), RCV Yacovi (13th), Minervita Digitalium (14th), Guatiza (15th), Julio Stephen (16th), Isidoro y Manuela JM (17th), Ayolex (18th), Escuela de Vela (19th), Isidoro y Manuela MN (20th) and Breña Baja-Isla de La Palma (21st).

The intensity of the wind continued to decrease during the second race, which forced the Regatta Committee to change the race course and place the finish line next to the Corralejo dock. Once again, the Fayna and the Congelados Africamar maintained a hand-to-hand battle, with the dinghy skippered by Nete Armas taking the victory. The third position went to Biosfera Express La Graciosa, skippered by Manri Rodríguez.

The last race of the Canary Islands Championship was completed with the following positions: Gran Vito (4th), Grúas San Ginés - Helly Hansen (5th), Playa Blanca (6th), RCV Yacovi (7th), Furia (8th), Pescamar Titerroy (9th), Sofcam - Canarias Ambiental (10th), CID Náutico (11th), Impermeabilizaciones Jorge´s (12th), Ayolex (13th), Isidoro y Manuela JM (14th), Escuela de Vela (15th), Julio Stephen (16th), Digitalium (17th), Minervita - Digitalium (18th), Isidoro y Manuela MN (19th), Guatiza (did not start), Breña Baja - Isla de La Palma (retired).

Fayna and Biosfera Express La Graciosa complete the podium

Great comeback by Congelados Africamar throughout the weekend, after suffering the breakage of the lever on Thursday afternoon, which forced him to withdraw from the first race of the Canary Islands Championship. The dinghy skippered by Nete Armas had José Antonio Falero, Ramón Martín, Víctor Mederos and Javier Palom as crew members on this occasion. A Congelados Africamar that revalidates the title won last year in the bay of Arrecife (Lanzarote).

The Fayna, skippered by Gonzalo Morales, has taken second place in the Canary Islands "Solidarity" Championship of 5-Meter Latin Sail Dinghies, performing a great competition throughout the three days of races. The podium is completed with the third position of Biosfera Express La Graciosa, skippered by Manri Rodríguez. Gran Vito de Santiago Santander has placed fourth, tied on points with Grúas San Ginés-Helly Hansen and Pescamar Titerroy.

The XXVII Canary Islands "Solidarity" Championship of 5-Meter Latin Sail Dinghies has been organized by the Canary Islands Federation of Latin Sail Dinghies and has had the support of the Fuerteventura Island Federation of Latin Sail Dinghies, the Gran Canaria Federation of Latin Sail Dinghies and the Lanzarote Island Federation of Latin Sail.
