The competition resumed for CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, visiting Grafometal La Rioja on Saturday afternoon, in a duel that once again showed the script of the entire season on the part of San José Obrero. The Lanzarote team stayed alive until the final minutes, in a match in which they could only field eleven players due to the injuries suffered by the squad. A clash that went the way of the Riojanas by 28 to 24.
One of the keys of the match was registered in the first minutes of the first half. The clash began with a partial score of 5 to 0 in favor of Grafometal La Rioja and Carlos Britos had to request a timeout when barely seven minutes of the match had been played. A cold start that was going to mark the development of the match.
The Grafometal Sporting La Rioja came to have in this first half a maximum lead of seven goals (9-2), having opposite a CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife that gradually got into the match. A partial of 1 to 4 allowed to reduce the difference to four goals, being now the local coach who requested the timeout. With the score of 15 to 10, halftime was reached.
The second half was a continuous exchange of goals, without Grafometal Sporting La Rioja being able to open a significant gap on the scoreboard to seal the match and without a CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife approaching to endanger the victory of the Riojanas. The four-goal lead was maintained throughout the second half.
With six minutes left in the match, Thalyta Almeida scored from the right wing and left her team only two goals down (25-23). From that moment on, the figure of Geandra Rodrígues appeared under the posts, stopping all the attacks of San José Obrero and preventing the comeback of the Lanzarote players.
With the result of 28 to 24, the end of the match was reached, in a new match in which CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife once again showed its fight and grit on the 40x20, but it was not enough to add the points that were at stake.
