Club Lucha Tao put the finishing touch to a great season by winning the title of champion of the Canary Islands Government Second Category League on Saturday night. The "verdillos" won 12-11 against CL Maxorata in the return leg of the final, the same score as seven days ago in Fuerteventura. A fight that was marked by controversy, with no unanimity throughout the week as to the day and time of its celebration. CL Tao made its advantage count to win the grand final against CL Maxorata and conquer the second champion title of the season.
The return match of the final was marked by absences in both teams. Cristo Hernández (Tao) and Carlos Moreno (Maxorata), missed the final due to suspension. And in the ranks of the Majorera team, Dresslar García, Toño Rodríguez or José Yeray Cabrera could not fight. Also noteworthy was the participation of Mario Franquiz, who despite being injured was key in the triumph of CL Tao and says goodbye with a title of champion of the active practice of Canarian wrestling.
CL Maxorata presented itself with only 10 fighters, four of them in the youth category, which allowed CL Tao to start the final with a two-point advantage. Hacomar Elvira and Cristian Mena gave the first points to CL Tao, giving two in a row to Erick Rodríguez and Francisco Santiago, respectively. Maxorata reduced the differences with the triumphs of José Alberto Padilla, Samuel Cabrera and Gabriel Torres, who left Hacomar Elvira, Cristian Mena and Gabriel Martín out of the fight.
CL Tao was always ahead on the scoreboard, although CL Maxorata showed that it had not traveled to Lanzarote on vacation and tried to make things difficult for the "verdillos". Cristian Soto eliminated Alexander Barrios and Omar Espino, giving both two in a row. The Destacado "C" Francis Padilla also contributed to the comeback by eliminating Acaymo Bonilla. For his part, Chenco Rivero gave Javier Díaz two in a row. Maxorata took the lead on the scoreboard with a score of 8 to 9.
Roberto Barrios and Martín Cano were in charge of putting CL Tao ahead again on the scoreboard. Martin Cano gave Daniel Alfonso two in a row and Roberto Barrios eliminated Francis Padilla. The first hold between the two concluded in a separation and in the second, the CL Maxorata fighter was eliminated for accumulating four warnings. The finishing touch would be put by Mario Franquiz, a fighter who returned to the ring after several weeks of absence. Franquiz gave Chencho Rivero two in a row and placed the score at 11 to 9.
Cristian Soto was in charge of bringing CL Maxorata closer on the scoreboard, leaving Roberto Barrios out of the fight. In the last hold of the night, Mario Franquiz, in the ranks of CL Tao, and Cristian Soto in CL Maxorata faced each other. Both fighters were eliminated in the first hold after adding three warnings.
CL Tao won 12-11 against CL Maxorata and won the title of champion of the Canary Islands Government Second Category League. In the awards ceremony, Mario Franquiz received a well-deserved tribute, a fighter who ends a stage of four seasons in the ranks of CL Tao and who closes his active participation in the world of Canarian wrestling.
