CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen has started on the right foot in group A of the Women's Silver Honor Division, winning in their visit to Vigo against CDEC Lavadores Vigo (23-29).

It was the first league match for two group champions from last season, which ended with a victory for the team from Lanzarote.

The Lavadores Municipal Pavilion was the setting for a very even match in its beginnings, but after the first third of the match, a local exclusion allowed Miguel Ángel Lemes' players to distance themselves on the scoreboard, reaching halftime with a five-goal advantage (12-17) that would barely change during the second half in a match directed by referees Javier Miranda González and Pablo González Iglesias.

The most successful local player in front of the goal was Arima López with six goals, well accompanied by Sandra Costas with four goals. In the ranks of Tiñoseras, the most successful was Mary Sánchez with seven goals, in a choral match with scoring from almost all the players from Lanzarote.

The coach of the team from Lanzarote, Miguel Ángel Lemes, commented after the match in Galicia that it had been an "even match in the initial moments, where we were not good defensively, not being able to run on the counterattack. After an exclusion of Lavadores we made a 0-4 partial and from there we got ahead on the scoreboard and maintained differences around 4-5 goals. In the second half we managed to have an advantage of seven goals (15-22) and we knew how to maintain the advantage until the end without much trouble".

Lemes confirmed that "without being a good match we have achieved the objective of bringing back the two points. The positive thing is that five players scored four or more goals and the goal was at a good level. Now to prepare for the Canary Islands Cup match and the Siero match".

The players from Lanzarote will play the final of the X Canary Islands Cup this Wednesday, September 18, while the Queen's Cup will take place on October 26.

The second league match of CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will take place next Saturday, September 21 at 8:30 p.m., in the Tías Municipal Pavilion against Siero Deportivo Balonmano, who lost at home in the inaugural match against Oviedo Balonmano Femenino in a resounding way (15-27).
