CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen has closed the year with positive feelings in Cantabrian lands. The Pedro Velarde Sports Center was the scene this Saturday of the victory over Camargo74 propenor Repsol (21-23) in a match corresponding to the fourteenth day of the Women's Silver Honor Division.
The Tiñoseras took a quarter of an hour to warm up the engines thoroughly (6-6, min. 15) after losing the leader, Oviedo, days before. After passing the meridian of the first part, the scoreboard reflected several alternations on the scoreboard between both squads, reaching halftime tied at 11.
The second part would also remain tied. The locals took the first distances and Puerto del Carmen pulled with pride to overcome. With twenty minutes remaining, Juanmi Pérez's players took the lead definitively as the Cantabrians would be unable to turn the result around (14-15, min. 40).
The players of Camargo74 gritted their teeth but time was against them. With the possibility of seeking a tie, a shot by the youth player Lucía Olivier put the definitive 21-23 to the joy of those in black and yellow.
Andrea Sáinz and Claudia Escudero were the top local scorers with four goals each. In the conejeras ranks, two young women, Carla Hernández and Lucía Olivier, became the Tiñoseras machine guns of the match with six goals each.
For the Tiñosero coach, Juanmi Pérez, it has been "a very disputed match on one of the difficult courts, where one of the keys to achieving victory is that by opening the defense we caused them quite a few problems, reaping quite a few counterattacks. It is a pavilion where it is difficult for all teams, but we have taken the four points in both matches, suffering, but we have taken them, against Camargo. We finished the year in fifth position with two postponed matches, but we will see in what state we start the second part of the season. Congratulations to the girls for their work during these months, I am quite happy with their work", Pérez concluded after closing the year with a victory in Cantabria.
