CB Ariagona continues its sweet streak at the start of the 2025-2026 season of the First Division Autonomic League, achieving its second victory in two games, this time as a local, at the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe Pavilion with the visit of Viajes Insular Juventud Laguna (65-54).
The players from Arrecife started liking it and achieved an eleven-zero partial at the beginning, spurred on by the ten points that Sara Ariza achieved in the first partial. The Tenerife players did not want to let the game slip away and responded with an equally forceful partial (2-13), leaving the end of the first quarter neck and neck (23-19).
The Rojillas knew how to get back on the path of good play and once again distanced themselves from the visitors when they reached halftime after a good partial score (14-7).
With an eleven-point lead for Ariagona, the game resumed, not allowing the Tenerife team to react. Clara Expósito managed to score seven points in the third period, and the final quarter began with the locals fourteen points ahead. Viajes Insular Juventud Laguna tried everything in the final quarter, winning it by three points, but it was not enough to prevent Ariagona Lanzarote's second victory in this league start.
With this second victory, Ariagona places itself in the group of undefeated teams, four teams, of the First Division Regional League. It accompanies Colegio Tacoronte, Gran Canaria ULPGC, and Tu Alteza Tenerife Central, all of them with two victories and without yet knowing the taste of defeat. For its part, Juventud Laguna is placed fifth in the league standings thanks to the very high score achieved on the first day against Ecoener C.B. Castillo.
Vahitiare Quintero became Ariagona's top scorer with seventeen points and an immaculate three-for-three in three-pointers, well supported by Sara Ariza's fourteen points. In the Laguneras ranks, Sofía Magali achieved the highest score of the match with nineteen points, very much alone in the visiting offensive facet where only Tania González reached twelve points and exceeded double digits, along with eight rebounds. Verónica Matoso once again came close to a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds, assisting her teammates again from the high post. The Ariagona pivots dominated in the paint with forty-three rebounds, ten more than the Tenerife players. For the Rojillo coach, Daniel González, "it was a great match. From the beginning, we had good feelings, we were able to defend well and play in open court or statically the advantages we had, and, in the end, the lack of success of Juventud Laguna, which is a great team, allowed us to take the victory. It seems that it was a peaceful match due to the eleven-point advantage, but nothing could be further from the truth. We started very intensely in the first quarter, we took a good advantage, then we made unforced errors due to rushing or bad decision-making, which made Juventud get back into the game again." "To highlight the teamwork on a defensive level, rebounding, being supportive, and in attack reading the advantages we had. Very happy with this second victory because we have been together for very little time," concludes the coach from Arrecife," he continues.**Ariagona will return to competition next Saturday, October 11**, at 4:00 p.m., at the Agua García Municipal Pavilion, visiting another of the undefeated teams in the First Regional Division, Colegio Tacoronte.
