In the penultimate away game of the season, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife visited Fundación Agustinos Alicante's court on Saturday afternoon with the aim of reversing the image given in the last match. The players led by Samuel Trives succeeded, but it was not enough to add a positive result, and ended up falling defeated by 29 to 26.
The first half of the match was quite even, with alternatives in the game and in the result. A 4-0 run allowed Fundación Agustinos Alicante to leave with a three-goal lead, a difference that was quickly neutralized by Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife. The Lanzarote team equalized the match with goals from Carlos González, Joel Armas, Manuel Barrios and Abián Martín (7-7).
In the final stretch of the first half, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife managed to have a two-goal lead (9-11), reaching the halftime break with a score of 13 to 13, which left the game open for the second half.
The beginning of the second period was key to the development of the rest of the match. Fundación Agustino Alicante increased its intensity on the court, and in the first seven minutes achieved a 5-1 run to obtain a 4-goal lead. A bad start to the second half, to which was added the disqualification of Óscar Silva after arriving late in a defensive action.
With ten minutes left, Fundación Agustinos Alicante enjoyed a seven-goal lead (26-19), and it seemed that the game was ready to be decided. Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife did not give up in the minutes remaining until the conclusion of the match, and even managed to get within two goals.
With the result of 29 to 26, the match came to an end, with Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife adding a new defeat in the Men's Silver Division. San José Obrero will say goodbye to the season at home next Saturday, receiving UBU San Pablo Burgos from 6:00 p.m.
