The Baja TT Cuenca, which will also count towards the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship, will mark the start of the 2026 season for Alexis Romero from Lanzarote.

Romero returns to raid competition in a top-level event, where he will be accompanied by the experienced co-driver Javier Álvarez. Álvarez has a distinguished career in navigation, having finished two editions of the Dakar, one in South America and another in Saudi Arabia on a motorcycle.

The team will compete at the controls of a Herrator Inzane 901 within the T3 category, with the objective of starting the year with good feelings in a highly demanding championship.

The race will be held from May 7 to 10 through the Serranía Conquense and will be the first event of the FIA European Baja Cup, in addition to the third round of the Spanish TT Rally Championship.

The program will start with the technical and administrative checks on Thursday and Friday, while on Friday the shakedown will take place. The competition will continue on Saturday with two stages, closing on Sunday with a final special stage, all of them with routes exceeding 200 kilometers.

The Baja TT Cuenca has registered a notable success in participation, with more than 140 teams registered. In this way, the main references of the national scene, along with outstanding international competitors who are joining for the first time, will meet at this edition.

The twelfth edition of the Cuenca Rally will feature the presence of the best drivers of the FIA European Baja Cup, in a race in which the teams arrive very evenly matched in the national championship standings.

Alexis Romero explains that "we arrive with a lot of desire and excitement for this first event of the season. The European Baja Cup is a competition of consistency, in which one must know how to balance pure speed with mechanical reliability in some of the most demanding terrains in Europe. The Baja TT Cuenca travels through a spectacular landscape of Castilla-La Mancha and we face it with ambition and concentration. We know it will be the start of a very competitive season, so it is important to achieve a good result that allows us to position ourselves well for the rest of the championship”.
