The scenic fabric of the islands receives a new boost to creation through grants aimed at professional companies and collectives that have premiered works between November 2025 and October 2026. The call covers disciplines such as theater, dance, circus, movement arts, and oral storytelling.

The Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, has signed the order prior to the publication of the bases for performing arts grants. These will be effective from their publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), scheduled for the coming days, although they are available for prior consultation on thewebsite of the Ministry.

A total of 350,000 euros will be allocated, which will be distributed in grants of up to 35,000 euros per project. Artists with works still in development may apply for this initiative, which must premiere before October 31.

According to the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of Canarias, Migdalia Machín, «this call strengthens public support for scenic creation in Canarias, accompanying the development of projects from their initial phase until their staging and favoring a diverse and quality cultural offer».

Likewise, Machín pointed out that «the procedure is articulated under a regime of competitive concurrence, guaranteeing the objective evaluation of the proposals and a responsible use of public resources, while contributing to strengthen the Canarian cultural fabric»

The subsidies are aimed at projects produced and premiered in the Canary Islands by companies, entities, and professionals from this autonomous community, and the call will be under a competitive bidding system. Once the guidelines are published, there will be a period of 15 business days for the submission of proposals.

The assessment of the applications received will be carried out in accordance with the criteria established in the regulatory bases, taking into account compliance with the required requirements and the suitability of each project to the objectives of the call.

These aids for creation in performing arts seek to "boost new current languages, fostering diversity, innovation, and social cohesion throughout the archipelago. As well as to energize the cultural and creative sectors with the generation of economic value".
