The sixth crossing of the Open Water Cup took place this past Sunday in Puerto del Carmen. Organized by the Fariones Sports Center. The test, open to all ages, had the participation of 267 swimmers. The favorites met expectations and Alejandro Candela and Sara González climbed to the top of the podium. They thus obtain valuable points that allow them to almost seal this new cup edition.
The meeting began with the children's categories. The youngest winners were Carla María Pérez and Gabriel González, both from Nonadamos. They were accompanied on the podium by Lucía de León and Irene Díaz, also from Nonadamos both, and James Hughes (Costa Teguise Junior Triathlon) and Alejandro Ibarra (Nadamas).
The alevines, who made a circuit of 800 meters, twice as long as the benjamines, had Daniela Robayna and Tomasso de Nova, both from Nadamas, as absolute winners. They were accompanied on the podium by Ana Gómez (Nadamas) and Aurora Marina Machín (Blufi Fariones) on the part of the females and Oscar Martín (Nonadamos) and Iñigo Santamaría (Trimakina) on the part of the males.
After them, the rest of the competitors came out, facing a 1,200-meter route where the favorites, as well as children, Alejandro Candela and Sara González, both from Nadamas, were crowned the fastest again with times of 16:43 and 18:39 respectively, accompanied in the drawers by David Romera (Nonadamos) and Borja García (Nonadamos) in the boys and Poppy Concannon (Didcot Barramundi) and Roberta Borneghi (Nadamas).
By categories, Andrés Martín (Nadamas) was the winner in Adapted S3, Junior Curbelo (Tridente Triathlon) in S5 and Lionel Morales (Nadamas) in S6. In children's categories, the aforementioned Sara González and Alejandro Candela, in junior Poppy Concannon and Bradley Ibrahim (Nonadamos), in Master A Victoria Santana (Nonadamos) and David Blas (Nadamas), in Master B Raquel Gómez (Nonadamos) and Sergio Heras (Nadamas), in Master C Roberta Bornaghi and Ricardo Arrocha (Nadamas), in Master D Esther Rodríguez (CT Ciudade de Lugo Fluvial) and David Romera, in Master E Luz Marina Cabrera (Blufi Fariones) and Tomás Valentín Fernandez (Guaragua), in Master F Maria del Rosario Martín (Nadamas) and Fulvio Barbati, in Master G Sandra Robson (Garagua) and Jesús Manuel Hormiga (Las Escuevas), Master H Pamela Kay (Nadamas) and Miguel Angel Yurrita (Nonadamos), Master I Victoria Gómez (Nonadamos) and Jose Luis Chantada (Nadamas) and in Master J Rosa María Segarra (Nonadamos).
The next event of the cup will be with the XXI San Ginés Swimming Crossing, on August 22, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
