“Where all roads meet"

Costa Teguise has that “Sabinesque” aura of “Let's say I'm talking about Madrid”, where all roads meet. However, unlike in the capital, next to the fifty-year-old tourist center of Teguise, the sea can be conceived. And our sun, thanks to the trade winds, softens the environment for the enjoyment of windsurfers, walkers and bathers.

Half a century is enough to tell great stories of those who decided to become de facto Lanzarote residents, lending a hand in the much that had to be done. They stayed among us and took root that continue to give life and characterize Costa Teguise as that place where the breeze of freedom blows without anyone asking for your ID or your birth certificate.

One walks its avenues, its network of hotels, its beaches and I must admit that I have felt more than one electric shock. I like Costa Teguise, living it. But it demands, I demand, a new impulse, a click to rejuvenate it after half a century of existence.

Well, while I make my way through this tourist-residential center with more than 9,000 residents and thousands of tourists in “vacation mode”, I clearly detect that being a jewel (which it is) its maximum potential is not being exploited, all its juice is not extracted, it is not polished as it should. And it is a pity that due to simple negligence, due to that inertia of crossing your arms and dismissing the future with a parsimonious “leave it be”, Costa Teguise does not shine with all the splendor it should.

I refuse to accept it and, as this mouth is mine, I demand that the municipal government take as its own the proposals of my party, the PSOE, for this town, including the latest one launched this week: to transform a network of paths left by the hand of God into a hotbed of social and sports revitalization of the first order.

May the roads be repaired for their safe transit, may those barriers that make it impossible for everyone to enjoy them be removed with the help of inclusion, may calisthenics points be set up to complement the physical activity of residents and tourists, may spaces be created to share a picnic (what about some large benches around sturdy wooden tables?), may light be provided to enjoy the itineraries at any time and avoid the feeling of insecurity in certain sections of the paths.

A better, possible, more fun, healthier, more sporty Costa Teguise. Within our reach with will and vision, raising our chins to see the future of another 50 years of happiness in Costa Teguise. In short, when the pale lady came to visit me, she would not have the need to cry “take me to the south where I was born” because I get off in Costa, I stay in Costa Teguise.
