What kind of freedom do they defend?

Surely since the past elections in the Community of Madrid, the term freedom has become fashionable at the headquarters of Génova 13. It sounds somewhat ironic if we look back or consult the newspaper archive to verify that the words freedom and social rights are incompatible terms for the Popular Party.

You don't have to look far back to see it. Without going any further, today, Friday, they have filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court to repeal the euthanasia law. For them, a person with a terminal illness who is suffering unbearable pain, certified with a medical report, does not have the freedom to die with dignity and avoid that unnecessary suffering. What for the social majority is a great step to achieve a fairer and more progressive country, the “medical professionals” of Génova 13 advise a law of palliative care that, in no case, alleviates the pain of the victims.

Do you remember when in 2005 they appealed the law that contemplated marriage between people of the same sex? They said it denatured marriage. They also rejected the Trans Law in 2007, the Equality Law in 2007 or the Divorce Law in 1981.

What kind of freedom are they trying to defend? The one of all of us going in a group to have some beers? Or are we all going to a bullring to see a bullfight? For the Popular Party it means this, but I prefer a more progressive country that does not stop advancing in social rights.

They don't fool anyone anymore; they have never cared about the well-being of people and groups. The word freedom is a very beautiful term, with a great meaning and that does not deserve to be stained by those who do the opposite. Of course, perhaps the interpretation they make deserves the 2021 Oscar award.
