The war between Israel and Iran that broke out on Friday, June 13, has increased the price of gasoline in Lanzarote, which today costs on average 1.07 euros, 6.7% more than it did in June.
However, Lanzarote still has the cheapest gasoline in the Canary Islands, so much so that it is the only non-capital island that is left without the Canary Islands Government bonus.
The Ministry of Finance of the Canary Islands Government has determined the amount of fuel bonuses on the non-capital islands for the third quarter, which will range between 5 cents/litre in Fuerteventura and 25 in El Hierro.
Lanzarote is excluded from the bonuses because it maintains a negative differential with respect to the average price in Gran Canaria (1.146 euros per litre in the last week) and Tenerife (1.144) euros.
In La Gomera and La Palma, the bonus will be 20 cents
In the case of La Palma, the Ministry of Finance emphasizes that the extraordinary bonus of 20 cents per litre authorized by the Governing Council is maintained, taking into account the special situation of economic recovery in which the island is immersed and the state of its road system after the volcanic eruption.
Regarding the variation in the amounts and islands, it explains that it is determined according to the average prices of each island compared to those of Gran Canaria and Tenerife for the same period, so that the bonus is adjusted to the real costs borne by the citizens of the non-capital islands.
In this way, the average of the supply prices of G95 gasoline and GOA diesel in Gran Canaria and Tenerife during April, May and the first half of June was 1.16 euros.
This figure is the one that has been taken as a reference for the average prices of the same supplies in the same period for the non-capital islands, except for La Palma, and which were 1.22 euros on average for Fuerteventura; 1.39 euros in La Gomera and 1.41 euros, in the case of El Hierro.
