Never has a cone been as seen as one suffered by the residents of Costa Teguise. So much so, that we could call it the Costa cone, as it is already part of the daily landscape.
The fluorescent element that identifies a point of danger on any municipal street has its maximum exponent in this town of ours. Some clues.
It identifies a sinkhole in the middle of one of its busiest roads, in a town of more than 8,000 residents. The street is precisely the access to the entrance of the Institute, the Health Center and the reference Supermarket, in a journey that borders Algol and leaves the barracks of the Civil Guard in the background.
Surely you already recognize it, the cone on Las Piteras street. You may have even greeted him, because of the trust gained these months.
An XXL cone, for more signs, in the middle of the road that has been there for too long, left to the hand of God, exposed to the Costateguise ventoral and to be hit by any minimally distracted driver after coming from the beach.
A cone, the preventive cone we wanted to think, for one, two or perhaps three days, until the municipal machinery arrived urgently and quickly to fix the sinkhole once and for all and thus avoid the inconvenience of thousands of daily drivers who have to avoid it. Fortunately, nothing serious has happened.
The poor XXL cone has been around for more than three months and there is no one to put a rebequita on it. More than 90 days and those that remain because this government of Teguise, with its usual slowness, intends us to accept the unreal or strange as something daily and common: months and months to fix a few meters of asphalt.
With the bad place in which they leave the Apps and immediate responses of which they presume to solve the problems of the municipal day to day.
With the complaints that the neighbors send us before the desolate cone and state of the firm: "Say something, let's see if they wake up!". And we do.
Today is May 14, 2021. To whom it may concern. Please, as a representative of the citizens affected by the sad and lonely cone, I urge you to fix the sinkhole as soon as possible and return the cone with its signage companions to the corresponding municipal warehouse.
Our cone will understand, do not fear, that it will surely have new services in the future.
Jenifer Galán Duarte, PSOE councilor in the Teguise City Council
