There are times when you have to raise your voice in a way that makes a certain position clear. I say this because of the immense weariness that both I, as mayor, and Costa Teguise as a town, have regarding the Costa Teguise Health Center. A temporary solution that is consolidated as a definitive solution.
Perplexed, there is no other expression, I was when I see again that in the Health budgets of the Canary Islands Government, not a single euro cent is painted to solve a problem in which our lives are literally at stake, and I do not say it as a literary resource.
We have land for its construction, willing to give it for this purpose, because it was conceived for this purpose.
Despite whoever it may concern, I don't care, I will do everything possible to serve as a catalyst for the feelings of our people and put, if necessary, all the tools available to make a massive call to the population in order to make our solidarity felt in the forums where decisions are made with a unanimous voice. Some may see a veiled threat in my words, they are right if they do, I personally assure you that they will have me in front of them unless this pressing need is satisfactorily met and that those responsible for this unease are held accountable once and for all and stop looking the other way when this issue is mentioned.
It is paradoxical that the highest representative of Health in Lanzarote is from the municipality of Teguise. I beg you, for once, to commit to your people and mobilize your colleagues to put an end to this situation in which our lives are at stake and I reiterate that it is literally.
*Oswaldo Betancort, Mayor of Teguise
