Day of Feelings, Day of Canarian Coalition.

October 30 2016 (10:57 WET)

I thought about paraphrasing a good pen with the aim of expressing what I have personally witnessed during this Saturday morning, when hearing the delivery of the act of deputy of Mr. Pedro Sánchez.

Values, yes. His decision to take a step aside has been a lesson in DEMOCRACY in capital letters. With his eyes full, God knows if due to impotence or pain, he announced that he was handing over his act because his ideals did not allow him to vote for an abstention when he defended the NO to the investiture of Mariano Rajoy.

Some will say that it has been a retreat to move to a not very distant offensive and others that this was the best way to get out of an uncomfortable situation... I suppose they are both right. But keeping aside some comments, what has been done today by this politician, I think can be likened to those green shoots mentioned by the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Government of the nation, but this time in the field of values.

Yes, a green shoot in politics, a shoot that calls into question what is heard in many bars and cafes in our land, in improvised coffee or midday beer gatherings, often unfair comments that try to measure the entire political class with the same yardstick.

It positions me as a politician to defend the flag of those who have the courage to do what we know is morally right.

I would like to express my deepest pride in our deputy Ana Oramas. The Canary Islands are heard even in the investiture of the President of the Government. Thank you Ana for your responsibility, involvement, for defending your ideals, for making a praise to the values that meant a great applause from the Chamber that represents all Spaniards, thank you for naming the young people, the farmers, the fishermen, our elders, our non-contributory incomes. When we look to the future, the first priority is to heal the wounds of this nation, leave behind the bitterness and divisions of the past and rediscover the ideals that rest in our hearts and finally be able to build the nation we all desire.

On my own behalf, and I assure you that on behalf of all our colleagues, congratulations for your words and for defending them in the way you do.
