Build, don't destroy

August 26 2023 (11:27 WEST)

Since my incorporation into the government group of Teguise as the new councilor of Local Police, Traffic and Civil Protection, the opposition has been in charge of clouding what is a direct participation in the municipal management following common sense: helping to strengthen a stable and lasting government block. My purpose is to govern for the majority, not only for our voters, since I believe in public service for all citizens, regardless of the formation they have voted for.

I can assure you that I will be focused on my councilorships, duties, responsibilities and obligations. In the same way that I will be available to any colleague in the government who needs my help. With this, I intend to facilitate decision-making and be able to execute the work of the government in the fastest and most efficient way possible. Here there are no vetoes nor will impositions be raised, nor are we going to give any media spectacle as some media and colleagues of the opposition already predict.

The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has extended her hand to everyone, but not in exchange for anything, the same possibilities that I have had, the colleague from Nueva Canarias has had, and if I am not mistaken, that hand is still extended, as well as anyone who wants to contribute and build in Teguise, but without blackmail, or threats, or crazy conditions, because I know that before giving in at any price, she prefers not to govern and renounce the majority that now makes up the current government.

The three parties that form the government of Teguise, we have left egos aside and partisan wars, to create a strong and united team that will work to carry out the ambitious project that will turn Teguise, not only into one of the best municipalities on our island, but into one of the best in all of the Canary Islands.

It should be pointed out that political parties are not sects, nor dictatorships subject to unique thought. Political formations are made up of people who have different sensibilities and criteria. In Vox, different ideological families coexist, such as center-right, Christian democrats, liberals, etc. Our president, Santiago Abascal, has commented on this on numerous occasions. Plurality within an organization is not a bad thing. Moreover, I consider it necessary since it enlivens and enriches the debate. The same occurs at the autonomous level in the Canary Islands, each island has its own customs, culture, and that is what makes us substantially particular and unique. Hence the importance of respecting, tolerating, empathizing and accepting differences and other people's opinions.

For my part, it will not be governed by promoting extremism, or encouraging the confrontation that some intend to establish. As I said in my inauguration speech, I will support the initiatives that are good for Teguise, as I have already done with the initiative of some opposition colleagues who, thanks to the suggestions of everyone in the plenary session, adjusted to what the majority thought, and were approved. This is what the plenary sessions are for: to debate ideas and get what is positive for the inhabitants. However, there are some colleagues who are comfortable in the opposition, where they have been for several legislatures, repeating the same speech in a loop, plenary after plenary. Using the same empty arguments that they argued even in previous legislatures, without realizing that the current political landscape of Teguise has changed.

I am also fully aware that some parties and media have made harsh and unfounded value judgments about VOX. That we are a party formed by ultras, radicals, extremists, anchored in ideals of the past, etc. What we have demonstrated is that we extend our hand to form governments at the service of the population and facilitate the application of projects. What is a fact, and not propagandistic conjectures, is the action of the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, who having lost a general election in seats and in number of votes in a clear way, intends to govern with the help of a fugitive from justice. In addition to continuing to have the support of parties that want to destroy Spain (ECR), the heirs of ETA (Bildu), or the Basque nationalists (PNV) who want to continue increasing their tax benefits, increasing inequality between the different autonomous communities. All this, to continue perpetuating himself in power, weakening the State by the different concessions to the PSOE partners. How dare they criticize what happened in Teguise? I find it execrable and unacceptable.
