Once the constitution of the City Councils, Island Councils and Parliament of the Canary Islands has been completed, where the respective councilors, councilors and parliamentarians have taken possession of their minutes, Nueva Canarias begins its political planning for the upcoming legislature in the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

"The Canarians make a positive assessment of the results obtained in accordance with the objectives set at the beginning of the last legislature," the party reports. Thus, they have achieved representation for the first time in Teguise and Haría, represented by councilors Fernando Jiménez and Marcos Lemes, respectively; Óscar Noda and Daisy Villalba as councilors in the Island Council; and Yoné Caraballo as a parliamentarian in the Parliament of the Canary Islands.

The elected councilor Daisy Villalba took office last Monday, stating that she "will exercise her supervisory function over the island government with the Canarian values of respect for the Canary Islands, its institutions and its citizens, and in line with the policy of care."

Similarly, she thanked the "Nueva Canarias team of Lanzarote, the national leadership of her party and all the voters who supported the Isla-Hogar idea that they have defended and will continue to defend now from the institutions."

For his part, Yoné Caraballo has promised this Wednesday his position as deputy in the Autonomous Chamber, highlighting "the commitment acquired with the population of Lanzarote and Graciosa regarding the fight for a dignified public health system; respect for the Third Sector; mental health; and the defense of Canarian identity and culture."

Caraballo, who did not want to miss the opportunity in this first plenary session of the legislature to give a "nod" to Canarian culture with a shirt representative of indigenous pintaderas, took the floor once the session was over to point out "his clear rejection of the first actions of the far right in Lanzarote, specifically, the request to remove the LGTBI symbols in the municipality of Tías."

"Nueva Canarias will be in the containment and rejection bloc of intolerant and xenophobic ideas that seek to irritate and make us regress as a society," the deputy stated while again lamenting that "supposed Canarian nationalists are complicit in this type of parties that are outside of all democratic logic."

Overall, NC also values "the results obtained by its electoral alliances in Yaiza and Tinajo," where an absolute majority was achieved by UPY in the southern municipality and the representation of the MRT in Tinajo was maintained.

From the Canarian organization, they state that "the space they represent as the fourth political force will continue to strengthen in this political cycle together with its alliances and local committees." "There is room for growth and improvement, and we invite all those progressives disillusioned with certain parties and politicians to approach this project made here that aims at the well-being of all the people of Lanzarote," they conclude.
