Yaiza City Council paid last week a total of 20,979 euros in sports subsidies, thus complying with the aid for the third and last period of last season.

According to explanations from the City Council, the granting of these aids, like the first two periods, is governed by the new criteria established by the Administration, which especially values the disciplines and schools with the highest number of registered children and young people and the clubs with the best trained monitors, criteria that also consider the stoppage in the activity of sports schools motivated by the pandemic and its restrictions.

“Within the technical evaluation for granting aid, we grant 60 percent of the total to sports entities with the highest number of practitioners and 15 percent to those who accredit the official qualification to perform the sports practices of their monitors”, details the Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago.

Apart from direct aid to athletes and sports entities, the City Council recalls that, as part of its sports promotion program, it is advancing in the construction of the Playa Blanca Sports Hall and in the improvements to the sports center in the town of Yaiza, and has already put out to tender the reconstruction works of the indoor soccer court in the center of Playa Blanca and the rehabilitation of another sports area in the urban area of San Marcial del Rubicón, projects that in total exceed 8 million euros of public investment.
