The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, presented this Monday the first four brand new nine-seater vehicles for sports entities, with the aim of “facilitating the transportation of boys and girls from clubs linked to the municipal sports schools program”.
The beneficiary clubs of this first transfer have been the Canarian Wrestling Club Unión Sur Yaiza, Ajaches Handball Club, Campos de Lanzarote Futsal Club and Código Cero Sailing Club. From the Consistory they point out that the four clubs were interested in the public call and submitted the documentation in a timely manner, complying with the requirements of the same.
“The City Council demonstrates with facts its support for grassroots sports and its commitment to the youth academy, making this aid in kind effective with which we intend to solve the transportation of boys and girls, since we know the effort that mothers, fathers, coaches and monitors make to mobilize athletes both to training and competitions”, said the mayor, Óscar Noda, at the presentation ceremony held this Monday in the Plaza de La Alameda de Yaiza.
“We add this material subsidy, valued at 21,000 euros per vehicle, to the 120,000 euros budgeted in cash for all sports schools, so that everything adds up to make the management of the schools of the different sports disciplines much more bearable”, he added.
Satisfaction of the clubs
The Campos de Lanzarote Futsal Club, represented by Antonio Riveira, pointed out that “this help from the City Council is quite important”. “We have many children, and when it comes to playing, this makes it easier for us to travel, so we thank the Yaiza City Council”, he said.
“This new vehicle is very useful to us, because we have quite a few trips outside the municipality and, therefore, it is a solution that we add to another vehicle that we already had”, said José Manuel Parra, from the Ajaches Handball Club. An opinion shared by Jorge Martín, from the Unión Sur Yaiza Wrestling Club: “It is very important because we already have another option to move the youth academy”.
Alfredo Ramírez, from the Código Cero Sailing Club, stated that “it is a very good initiative on the part of the City Council”. “In our case, we have the sailing club in Puerto Calero, which is not a large urban area, so 80 percent of the club's children are from outside, and to bring them and take them, it is great for us”, he stressed.
“We will launch a new call so that clubs that did not present or did not meet the requirements in time assess the possibility of accessing this material subsidy”, the mayor advanced.
