The Cabildo of Lanzarote has announced the awarding of the works "to rehabilitate and resurface the old road from Yaiza to Playa Blanca", the LZ-701, to the company Lanzagrava S.L. for an amount of 2,364,980.49 euros.

This was announced by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, who highlights that "the works, co-financed with funds from the Cabildo and the FDCAN, will be carried out along more than 10 kilometers of road, which is currently a cyclist preference and has numerous deficiencies, not only in the asphalt but also in the lack of signage."

The Cabildo points out that this road, which also supports a high volume of traffic, "mainly heavy vehicles", presents a "very significant wear on its pavement, with cracks and general subsidence in the filling areas in the first kilometers."

"In addition to the resurfacing works, which will improve the safety conditions of this road, the signage will also be reinforced as a whole, also renewing the existing bionda barriers, whose posts do not comply with current regulations on containment systems," says the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina.

Medina adds that "the Hoya roundabout also has deficiencies in surface drainage, with water accumulating on the road every time it rains and the drains do not work" so they will also act "on about fifteen transverse drainage works that channel rainwater across the road." From the start of the works, the company has an execution period of two months.
