The Governing Board of the Arrecife City Council, chaired by Mayor Yonathan de León, has approved in its meeting this Wednesday held at the Mayor's Office the inter-administrative cooperation for the Insular Water Council of Lanzarote to carry out installation works for new drains in different areas near the mouths of the ravines that lead to the Argana Alta neighborhood.
The Governing Board's agreement gives the green light to the Project for specific actions to improve urban rainwater drainage in the Argana Area, Municipality of Arrecife, Lanzarote
This action, with an investment of approximately 800,000 euros, can be put out to tender this winter with a subsidy that the Government of the Canary Islands has nominally allocated to the Insular Water Council of Lanzarote. Today's approval by the Arrecife City Council will allow for the execution of this work, as outlined in a technical project commissioned by the Insular Water Council.
Last April, following floods that affected the towns of Costa Teguise and Arrecife, the Governing Council of the Canary Islands approved at its meeting held at the Casa de la Cultura in Arrecife, a direct subsidy of one million euros to carry out works under the responsibility of the Insular Water Council of Lanzarote.
That meeting of the Governing Council of the Canary Islands took place in Arrecife in a special way with the approval of the Arrecife Supplementary Plan, a meeting in which the mayor of Lanzarote's capital, Yonathan de León, acted as host.
