The spokesperson for United for Yaiza, Daniel Medina, has requested from Canarian Coalition (CC) that it make its spokesperson resign in the municipality of Yaiza and Culture advisor to the Government of the Canary Islands, Emilio Machín, “for repeatedly lying on several issues related to the management of the Yaiza City Council and lack of rigor, or reading comprehension, in the study of municipal affairs."
"Reading is difficult, but if Machín intends to be mayor of Yaiza or Minister of Culture of the Canary Islands, he must dedicate much more time to study and analysis," Medina has pointed out.
Media maintains that “this way of acting deserves a response and a reproach from Coalición Canaria, which tries to position itself, evidently, without success, as a political organization that champions honesty and rigor in the information it handles and that it subsequently conveys to citizens, and we have seen several examples during this term, in relation to water management, to the ZAR zones and to deficient public transport, among many other things.”
According to them, "the breaking point" arrives with the press release "where he shamelessly lies about the file of the wall of the Uga fairgrounds, since in it, the spokesperson for Coalición Canaria in Yaiza, accused the current government of dereliction of duty and of not wanting to meet with the Acuña family who have occupied part of the area of that public space."
After the meeting held by the mayor with the people of Uga before Easter, “it has been demonstrated that there has always been good will and predisposition from the mayor and the governing group to meet with the aforementioned family, albeit with little success because they have never responded to the requirements and offers, and the mayor demonstrated this in that meeting with the residents of Uga. It also became clear, with documents in hand, the legal actions undertaken by the City Council in defense of the general interest, actions that are maintained”.
On the other hand, Medina also highlights "the big lie of Don Emilio Machin, after it was revealed that the dereliction of duties occurred on the part of the now "quasi colleague" of Coalición Canaria, Doña Gladys Acuña, when she was mayor of the municipality, and that was when it was appropriate to appear in the procedures that had been initiated for the claim of the lands that are today occupied by this family and this thanks to a firm sentence that the family has won precisely because the City Council did not appear at that moment. It so happens that the family, as everyone knows, maintains close blood ties with the former mayor and today chief of staff of Oswaldo Betancort in the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Gladys Acuña."
“Mr. Machin forgets when he shared government in the last legislature from 2019 to 2023 there was always a member of Coalición Canaria on the government boards where licenses of different natures were granted, always adjusted to law and with favorable technical reports from the technical office, then he did not criticize the obscurantism he now denounces, therefore we are facing an exercise in demagoguery, cynicism unbecoming of a gentleman who intends to lead this city council and represent the citizens”, states Medina.
In politics, Medina states, “not everything goes and the Spanish proverb is recurrent when it states that it is easier to catch a liar than a lame person, in this case and for all this, Don Emilio Machin has proven to be a person who is not trustworthy, who does not respect fair play, and who intends to make opposition by falsifying, lying, generating hoaxes and doing the dirty work for his hierarchical superiors who are trying to undermine the possibilities of a mayor who works, who strives and who denounces the non-compliance with his municipality and with the rest of the island.”
