The Tías City Council, governed by PSOE, Lanzarote Avanza (LAVA), and Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos, held an ordinary plenary session this Monday, which had been convened for last Tuesday but had to be postponed following the death of the mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera Lemes. Before the start of the plenary session, the corporation observed a minute of silence in memory of Alexis Lemes.

Regarding the Children's School in Puerto del Carmen, "we have been in contact with the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands and have received a report indicating that the municipal facilities, near the institute, meet the requirements for it except for some exceptions in terms of accessibility, electricity, and fire protection," explained the mayor, José Juan Cruz.
As the mayor elaborated, the future Children's School of Puerto del Carmen will be able to comply with current regulations and have 6 classrooms from 0 to 3 years old. Previously, the adaptation of the facilities to the standard will have to be resolved with a project that must be drafted and provided with funding.
Against gender violence
The corporation also unanimously approved "to ratify the firm commitment of the City Council to the rights of women, the eradication of any type of sexist violence, and to combat any denialist discourse and political positioning that denies gender violence or rejects policies focused on its total eradication."
The second deputy mayor and councilor for Equality, Nicolás Saavedra, pointed out that with this approval "we join the celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and we are also present on that day to work for the equality of men and women."
One of the items on the agenda that was reported was the settlement and general account for the year 2020, which, in the words of the Councilor for Finance, Tomás Silvera, "resulted in good economic health and a zero debt with banking entities, in addition to a decrease in current expenses."
Silvera also explained the proposed modification of credit in the current budget, approved unanimously, to transfer a total of 19,000 euros from the areas of Festivals and Mobility to the nominated subsidies to sports clubs that participate in regional and national competitions, such as CD Magec Tías, CB Puerto del Carmen, CF Sporting Tías, CF Tiñosa Tinguafaya, and CDU Puerto del Carmen.
Likewise, the government group's proposal was supported with all votes in favor for Telefónica España to be urged to bury the overhead lines and repair the current braiding or according to regulations, and that a burial plan be made by these companies, taking into account that municipal regulations prohibit overhead lines for such purposes.
The Councilor for New Technologies, Kalinda Pérez, pointed out that "we have already sent, also with graphic images, the files to Telefónica with requests to improve the wiring so that it is buried and the one that cannot be buried is repaired. Meanwhile, and despite not having competences, it is our obligation to facilitate services such as internet connections through fiber optics."
During the plenary session, it was clarified that "while in the summer of 2019 only 47% of connectivity with fiber optics existed in the municipality of Tías, today 70% of connectivity is already reached."
