The rehabilitation works of the Arrecife Youth Center have already begun. This was announced this Friday by the Councilor for Youth of the City Council, Jacobo Lemes, who also announced that the building is expected to be ready to reopen its doors in the first quarter of 2015.
The realization of these works will cost 176,265 euros (including taxes), which will be borne by the capital's City Council, with the exception of 30,000 euros, contributed by the Cabildo of Lanzarote. After winning the public tender held last April, the company Aleima Proyectos e Instalaciones SL will be in charge of carrying out the work.
The Arrecife Youth Center closed its doors in 2005 due to the danger of collapse of part of its structure. According to Lemes, these works will "recover the property and provide it with habitable conditions".
The councilor visited the facilities this Friday accompanied by the Deputy Mayor, Rafael Juan González Robayna, and expressed his desire that "in a few months we can begin to respond to many of the demands and needs of our young people".
The Youth Center building, located on the Vía Medular of Arrecife, has study rooms and multipurpose rooms, as well as an amphitheater for 200 people.
