The Titerroy Neighborhood Association has been very forceful in a statement sent to the media, stating that "they can no longer tolerate the neglect of the authorities, both from the Arrecife City Council and the Cabildo, as well as the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration". The residents denounce that the well-known Parque Los Pinos is one of the best on the island and "the institutions are doing nothing or don't want to do anything at all".
The Titerroy Neighborhood Association reports that the residents of the area are demanding more police presence, as well as that the park be illuminated since the lighting posts and lampposts in the corridors are all burnt out and have been in this state for over a year.
If this park had all the fair and necessary services, the residents would come more often to enjoy it, as we believe we have the best park in Lanzarote, but what good is that if the City Council does nothing to allow the residents to enjoy it?
"We are tired of requesting activities for both young and old, we have a jewel of a park in our neighborhood, something that our politicians have not wanted to realize or are not interested in", declares the president of the neighborhood association, Ismael Montero.
The residents of Titerroy demand "with great urgency" that public institutions take the appropriate measures once and for all. "They want to recover for their use and enjoyment, day by day, a wonderful park like Los Pinos, which since its inauguration in 2000, few residents have been able to enjoy it, because it is held hostage by drug addicts who come from all over the island to acquire their dose and consume it at the same time," say from the neighborhood association, which despite everything ensures that drug use in the area has decreased.
The association urges the capital's city council to start working urgently in the park, "since even the stones from the walls are falling", as well as to provide a good service and surveillance, since about 500 children pass through the park.
For Ismael Montero, "it is a shame that with children's schools and a children's dining room, no one does absolutely anything".
