Teachers from IES Arrecife and CEIP Antonio Zerolo take over the protests

They have concentrated throughout the week in front of their schools to demand the homologation of their salaries with those of officials of the same category but have not obtained a response from the Ministry of Education. Even so, some non-university teachers from Lanzarote have not lost hope and this Thursday, December 13, they organized a demonstration at 6:00 p.m. from the Insular Education Office of Arrecife to Calle Real to be heard by public opinion.

The protests began on Monday at the IES Puerto del Carmen and were repeated during the week in some centers in Playa Honda and Yaiza. This Thursday, equipped with banners and posters, they concentrated in front of the doors of the IES Arrecife and the CEIP Antonio Zerolo in the capital.

The unions had called off the strikes planned for the months of December and January and replaced them with these concentrations during recess hours, but they are already threatening to take more forceful measures in the future, such as strikes of several days, if an agreement is not reached with the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, which is headed by Milagros Luis Brito.
