The President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has stated in Parliament that the bilateral summit between Spain and Portugal, which begins this Wednesday in Lanzarote, will address, among other issues, the Spanish-Portuguese alliance to cap the price of gas and the asylum and migration pact in the European Union (EU).
In response to the deputy of Agrupación Socialista Gomera, Casimiro Curbelo, President Torres indicated this Tuesday that this bilateral meeting, the first to be held in the Canary Islands between both countries, should be "the prelude" to the Summit between France, Portugal, and Spain that the autonomous Executive has proposed to host in the archipelago.
The Spanish-Portuguese summit will have "an important presence" of institutions, with about ten ministers from each Government, and will discuss, among other issues, the need to close the community asylum and migration pact in the current European legislature.
In addition, fiscal rules will be discussed with the aim of introducing "fair" mechanisms to complete the economic recovery in the countries most affected by the pandemic, Torres explained.
