The Socialist Group in the Tías City Council will submit a motion to the municipal Plenary requesting that recognition and tribute be paid to so many women championed by Clara Campoamor, who 75 years ago defended the right to female vote, as an essential part to achieve a full democracy. The socialists argue that in this commemoration, on March 8, they want to celebrate the crucial moment for the lives of so many women and argue that they have been protagonists of unstoppable advances in the fight for equal opportunities.
Fight against discrimination
The socialists also ask the central government to adopt the necessary measures to eliminate the labor discrimination suffered by women, whose average salary is 27 percent lower than that of men. In addition, they ask to promote coordination and cooperation between all public administrations, each within the framework of their powers, enabling the participation of local governments in the application of the Law Against Gender Violence and the Dependency Law, with the provision of sufficient resources.
