The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, visited the area of the old La Tiñosa fish market this Wednesday with several councilors from the government group. After their visit, the town hall has announced that it will open a consultation process on the future use of the facilities.
"The fish market is a historic building that will now become part of the enjoyment of the town and its citizens. With this process, we are paving the way for the municipality's population to decide what to do with the space. From the town hall, we want to ask the population what type of space we are going to design for citizen use," declared the mayor.
José Juan Cruz Saavedra and Nicolás Saavedra, together with Pepa González, Mariana Pérez and Sergio García, councilors for Historical Heritage, General Heritage and Fisheries, respectively, toured the facilities of the old fish market to see the different possibilities offered by the space.
On the other hand, in addition to the work that will be carried out inside the old fish market after the consultation process with the population, the town hall already has a project drawn up to condition the exterior of that area.
According to this project, the space between the fish market and the sailors' warehouse will have shaded and recreational areas in the form of a small square with a sculpture, horizontal sails and benches and tables for public use.
