The PSOE of Lanzarote, through the counselor of the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and former counselor of the CACT's, Benjamín Perdomo, has lamented that the "insistence" of Oswaldo Betancort "prevents other municipalities of the island from enjoying the 'Enogastronomic Festival Saborea Lanzarote'" and that its "tenth edition is held again in the municipality of Teguise for the ninth time".
"Contrary to the line taken in the previous legislature to diversify the festival and make it extensive to other municipalities, the President insists on going backwards in an interested way", he added. "We said it and we repeat it: 'Saborea Lanzarote' is an island project and not the heritage of a specific municipality, no matter how much some may be interested", Perdomo pointed out.
The socialist counselor recalls that in the past edition, Tías hosted the festival with a "great reception" by the population and that "San Bartolomé, Yaiza, Haría, Tinajo or Arrecife also have the right to enjoy it and to be a host place for an event that integrates all the economic and social agents of the sector".
"An island-wide enogastronomic festival must sell the Lanzarote brand"
Likewise, he has described as "absurd" that this edition of the festival is presented in Tenerife. "An island-wide enogastronomic festival must sell the Lanzarote brand. Tenerife already has its own island edition of 'Saborea'. We do not know what moves Oswaldo Betancort to make this decision, but it seems that he sometimes forgets that he governs for the people of Lanzarote", he concluded.
