The socialist group of Tinajo denounces the attitude of the Canarian Coalition (CC) for "marginalizing the opposition and hiding information about the actions of the City Council." The most recent example cited by the PSOE corresponds to the hijacking of the public garbage collection service in the municipality.

According to the PSOE spokesperson, José Luis Bahillo, the government group took "a unilateral decision, without taking into account the opposition and relying on the majority it holds." "It has deprived us of the information necessary to assess a decision that affects an essential service. We have not had access to the documentation that allows us to know the real debt that the City Council has with the company," he laments.

The socialist councilor has criticized "the continuous misinformation" from the mayor, Jesús Machín, who "assured that the debt is 90,000 euros and that what was published in the press, a debt of 400,000 euros, had been a mistake by the media, while the company providing the service claims a debt amounting to one million euros."

"It is evident that they are intentionally falsifying the data. We wonder how far the demagoguery of this government group goes. This way of doing politics, the secrecy that characterizes this government, is maintained, and from the PSOE we ask that it stop manipulating and deceiving the residents," says Bahillo.

The PSOE recalls that since 2009 it has requested to terminate the contract with the company in charge of waste collection, given the indications of malfunction. "The neglect and lack of interest of CC is such that it has led the municipality to a truly unsustainable situation," says the PSOE spokesperson.

Budgets

On the other hand, the socialists also criticize the delay in the execution of the local budget and point to "the inability" of the government group led by Jesús Machín.

"We should be debating the municipal budgets for the year 2012, but they have not been able to present the budget project for this year. They demonstrate a total lack of interest in correctly managing public resources," says Bahillo, while pointing to the consequences of this inability. "This way of governing has led to serious economic problems and a high level of indebtedness of the Tinajo City Council," he concludes.
