The PSOE in the Teguise City Council has demanded that the mayor of the municipality, Oswaldo Betancort, be held accountable for the "deplorable patching" of the El Mojón road, from the entrance of the town to the Guatiza cemetery. The opposition party has recalled that last May they proposed in the Plenary the "complete resurfacing of the road, given its extreme deterioration"; an initiative that was rejected by the municipal government group.
"The councilor Eugenio Robayna assured us that the work would be carried out shortly thanks to an agreement signed with the Cabildo, but the truth is that we have not had any evidence of this agreement with the first Corporation nor has a decent job been done," said the spokesperson for the socialists, José Brito. "The patching has lasted only a few days and today it is already lifted, with potholes, loose stones and no guarantee of road safety," said the councilor.
"Enough of patches, enough of sweeping under the rug to give a pleasant but unreal image of our municipality. Teguise and its residents need and deserve a much more responsible management than that offered by Betancort and his councilors," added Brito.

In addition, the socialist councilor recalled that the City Council is the main promoter of the Rallye Villa de Teguise, a race that runs in part on that road and that will take place on May 26 and 27.
