The mayoress of Arrecife and candidate for the next Municipal Elections on May 26, Eva de Anta, met this Friday with the affected families of Valterra for the irregularities of the land suffered for more than forty years, and that has been resolved this week.
The mayoress was accompanied by the candidate for the Presidency of the Island Council, María Dolores Corujo, who wanted to convey to the neighbors her gratitude "for the patience, and the wait of these years".
De Anta said in her speech that "politics is there to solve real problems of the people of Arrecife. During this legislature, this has been one of the challenges to solve because of the injustice of it. Today I can assure you that, finally and after more than forty years, they already have guaranteed ownership of their homes, with all rights."
It should be remembered that Valterra has a total of 200 homes that were built in 1955 by the Social Institute of the Navy with the participation of different canneries, to be destined to workers related to fishing, as official protection homes. However, while 130 were given to the tenants by the State, a lawsuit was initiated a year ago on the other 70, being claimed by three canneries
