The socialists of Teguise already voted against the agreement reached between the City Council and Algol when the issue was taken to the municipal plenary, and now it is the Lanzarote PSOE that shows its rejection of this document. And it does so through the allegations that it planned to present this Tuesday.

According to the socialist and Councilor for Territorial Policy of the Cabildo, Carlos Espino "the reclassification that is intended on the land of the golf course is unacceptable, as well as the annual programming of beds, which clashes head-on with the objectives of containment and timing of the offer that we have all set for ourselves".

Deadline for allegations

Regarding why then no allegations have been presented to the agreement from the Cabildo, the councilor has been blunt, assuring that no opportunity has been lost, and that the Corporation still has time to pronounce itself.

According to them, the PIOT is obliged to prepare a technical and legal report on said agreement. On May 4, the document approved by the Teguise City Council, "Subsidiary Regulations of the Planning of the Municipality of Teguise: Remediation of deficiencies in Costa Teguise", entered the Cabildo of Lanzarote, although it did not include as an annex the agreement formalized between Teguise and Algol, which was claimed by the Corporation.

From the Department of Territorial Policy, Carlos Espino has assured that the Cabildo has one month to issue its report. "From May 4 we have 30 days to make our report, which is not allegations, which are different things," the councilor explained to La Voz. "The allegations, the City Council may or may not take them into account, but a report from the Cabildo has to take it into account in an obligatory way, because it is the guarantor that the Island Plan is respected when making a planning adaptation".
