Agents of the National Police arrested at the beginning of May two young people, aged 19 and 21, as alleged perpetrators of several crimes of robbery with force committed in different businesses in the center of the Lanzarote capital. The arrest took place last Monday, May 4.

According to the National Police has informed, the investigated events occurred throughout the early mornings of the months of March and April, a period in which, the now arrested, allegedly would have perpetrated up to six robberies with force in commercial establishments in the central area of Arrecife.

The investigation allowed to confirm that the alleged perpetrators acted with their faces completely covered and used large stones that they picked up nearby to fracture the access windows to the premises. Furthermore, they managed to enter up to three times in the same premises located on the city's promenade.

Given the high incidence of this type of criminal acts in the area, the National Police established a preventive device by the Citizen Security units, which allowed the identification of the alleged perpetrators.

Subsequently, and after the analysis of the video surveillance cameras, the investigators were able to verify the alleged involvement of both detainees in the wave of robberies registered during recent months.

Once the police proceedings were concluded, the arrested were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
