The Provincial Court of Las Palmas requests the creation of a Mixed Section in Lanzarote

The Civil Sections of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas decided at the last meeting of the Board of Magistrates to request the creation of a Mixed Section based in Lanzarote. According to a press release, they will now forward their request to Congress, the Senate and the Minister of Justice, so that the Law of the Court can be modified.

In their writing, they emphasize that since the knowledge of civil appeals was attributed more than 10 years ago to sections 3, 4 and 5, the volume of matters to be dealt with has grown by 25 percent, and the judicial bodies have also increased (4 Courts of First Instance and a Commercial Court in the province of Las Palmas, 3 Courts of First Instance and Instruction in Puerto del Rosario and 3 more in Arrecife). In addition, they add that creating a Mixed Section based in Lanzarote would eliminate "the inconvenience and expenses currently imposed on the citizens of these islands due to their travel to the headquarters of the Court in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria".

Therefore, they publicly request the involvement of the Parliament and the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildos of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the mayors of these two islands and the Bar Associations and Solicitors of Las Palmas and Lanzarote in achieving this objective.
