The presentation of the strike notice in the Tourist Centers is being delayed. The president of the Works Council, Héctor Noda, announced it almost a week ago. However, it has not yet been presented and another member of the Committee, in this case Antonio Bonilla, has assured La Voz that it will be done either this Friday or next Monday.
For the moment, according to Bonilla, the strike notice has not been presented because several workers and union members have yet to present their ID. Once it is presented, the strike could begin in 15 days and would be indefinite.
This strike is a pressure measure to readmit Wilfredo Toribio, who was fired after uttering some insults in a moment of tension to the members of the Board of Directors. This worker obtained a final judgment declaring the dismissal unfair and says that the measure is "disproportionate".
Bonilla has harshly criticized the Minister of Tourism, Ástrid Pérez, and has drawn a parallel between her attitude and that of the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria. "They have denounced the people just for demonstrating", he assured in reference to the dismissal of Wilfredo Toribio and the complaints filed by the National Police against several protesters against oil exploration.
