The PP proposes to the government group of Arrecife to demand 4,600,000 euros in investment from the Canary Islands government

The Popular Party denounces that "Arrecife, like Lanzarote, is once again being punished by the Government of the Canary Islands in terms of economic items within the general budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands".

For this reason, the PP considers that once again the Government of the Canary Islands "forgets how important public investment is for Arrecife, and therefore for Lanzarote. Not only because there is a lack of endowments and equipment, but because Arrecife unfortunately stands out for its high unemployment rate, and the budget of the Autonomous Community should be a real axis in the creation of employment in the islands, but far from being so, it constitutes an additional disappointment to the problems facing the region", defend from the popular ranks.

"Arrecife, which has a very important deficit in infrastructure compared to other island capitals, and despite this, is once again relegated to the last position this year, but what is not understood is that from the Arrecife City Council and specifically from the government group, a conformist and passive position has been maintained in the face of the constant indifference of the Government of the Canary Islands, which is why in these last two budgets the citizens of Arrecife have suffered the neglect of their regional government." Says Joel Delgado.

The popular councilor points out that "faced with this absurdity, the State Government invests €13,000,000 in the ring road with European cooperation, provides €17,000,000 to the port of Arrecife for its improvement and expansion, and increases the national fund with the municipal institution by 20%. In other words, the most distant administration is the one that invests the most and the closest one the least", he concludes.

For the Popular Party there is a significant number of projects, which if not remedied, will not see the light in 2014. Among them, the famous Cruz Blanca residence, the remodeling of the Titerroy and Valterra Homes, the House of Culture, the House of Youth, the congress palace, the Destila school, the rainwater of Argana Alta, the Argana Alta Health Center, the food market and the UNED headquarters.

All of these are, for the popular of Arrecife, "priority projects, social projects, projects to generate wealth, projects to generate employment and projects that, if carried out, would make Arrecife a more habitable and more visitable city. But the sad reality and based on the general budget of the autonomous community is that for Arrecife they only contemplate 535,000 from their own funds. Of which €160,000 are allocated to the rainwater of Argana Alta and €375,000 to the Destila school", Joel Delgado sentenced.

Therefore, the Popular Party in its "attempt to correct this tremendous error as is not giving priority to these projects, and maintaining a more demanding position than ever and under the support of our popular parliamentary colleagues who have already presented initiatives and amendments in this regard, we have presented a motion".

"That this plenary session requests the Government of the Canary Islands to include the following investment table in its budgets, contemplating the following economic items:

1. House of Culture. €300,000

2. Youth House. €200,000

3. Cruz Blanca Residence. €400,000

4. Congress Palace. €2,000,000

5. Destila School. €1,200,000

6. Rainwater. €300,000. €

7. Argana Alta Health Center. €100,000

8. Food Market Project. €50,000

9. UNED headquarters project. €50,000.
