The Popular Party has lamented that the "partisan vision" of the PSOE municipal government leads it to vote against "the improvements that the popular proposed in the last plenary session for the Local Police." Among the popular proposals was to provide "more personnel to the population center of Playa Honda", as well as "the 24-hour opening of the office that the body has on San Borondón Street."

“It is a shame that the PSOE exercises the steamroller of the absolute majority to liquidate without any basis the proposals that the opposition makes in the plenary session for the mere fact of coming from the opposition and without taking into account whether it is really a need that the government must address”, denounces the president of the Popular Party of San Bartolomé, Jeziel Martín, who assures that his political formation "will continue to demand that the presence of the Local Police in Playa Honda be reinforced".

“It is not the first time in this mandate that we have asked for security to be implemented in the municipality, but we always encounter the refusal of the socialist government, which, from what can be seen, is not interested in addressing the problem of the deficit of personnel that a public service that is essential for citizens drags along”, explains Martín. “San Bartolomé should have 8 more officers and the reality is that at this moment there are three vacant local police positions that are unfilled”, he adds.

For the popular, the lack of agents is a "very important" issue, in which San Bartolomé "has lost a lot of time." In addition, they recall that two years ago, the Socialist Party "adopted the decision to transfer the selection process to incorporate new police officers to the Government of the Canary Islands", arguing that the Consistory "lacked the means."

From the Popular Party they point out that now, two years later, "it seems that it is returning to the City Council and that it will be the municipal government that carries out the procedure." “The reality is that the socialist government of San Bartolomé has made us waste a magnificent time without calling for a single position or even joining the agreement that the Government of the Canary Islands is launching this year for the call for the first unified opposition of local police officers”, explains the local leader of the popular.

From the PP of San Bartolomé they also reject "the deception" that the socialists make to the residents of Playa Honda, by stating that the Local Police office in Playa Honda "opens 24 hours, when it is not like that and the residents have been able to verify it."
