The Popular Party of Teguise criticizes that Coalición Canaria "has been unable" to fix the teleclub of La Graciosa after 10 years of closure, despite being a meeting point "so demanded". In addition, it ensures that the municipality has "sufficient surplus" to execute the reform.
The Inocencia Páez Sociocultural Center in La Graciosa closed its doors in 2013 to reform the oldest part of the establishment, which was in poor condition. The objective of the Teguise City Council was to undertake a work that would update and provide security to the facilities, but the center is still unfinished.
"Even recognizing the special urban conditions of the island of La Graciosa and the fact that the space is under easement of Coasts and the permits are delayed in time, this cannot be an excuse for the people of La Graciosa to continue without being able to enjoy the facilities", they point out from the PP.
In addition, they recall that the Public Works area of the Cabildo, under the mandate of the Popular Party, "provided a subsidy for the two projects in which the arrangement of the center was divided". "This week the Teguise City Council has decided that more than 125,000 euros will now be allocated to another action outside of La Graciosa and leave the Inocencia Páez Sociocultural Center unfinished, alleging problems with Endesa", they emphasize.
For the councilor of the Popular Party, Nieves Arrocha, "it is incomprehensible that they have not taken advantage of the years of bureaucracy to fix the problem with Endesa and that they hide behind that to not finish it." Arrocha points out that "understanding that the new action to which this item is going to be dedicated is necessary, it is still unfair for the people of La Graciosa, since there is enough money from the treasury surplus to execute it."
"Already in March 2017, a motion from the party itself was debated in plenary in which it demanded that the arrangement of the installation be completed, a motion that CC voted against, alleging that it was out of place because they were already working on it", explains the Popular Party. "In addition, in the last plenary session, Nieves Arrocha asked what was going to happen with this work since, having a subsidy, the windows were being changed with own funds and that the same thing should not be paid for twice."
From the popular ranks, they demand the commitment of Coalición Canaria to say when the work on the sociocultural center will be finished and who will finance the work that remains to be executed.
