The councilors of the Popular Party of Yaiza, Juan Monzón and Guayo Rodríguez, demand that the mayor Oscar Noda "stop political conspiracies" due to the proximity of the elections and that, "in the months that he has left, he focus on advancing a solution to the serious problems of lack of personnel that affects the Local Police force."

A request that the populars maintain that they have made since last year "without success because the Noda government has been unable to correct the deficit of personnel that this municipal service has." Now, it has been the Union of Police and Firefighters SPPLB in the Canary Islands that again insists on this problem "in the face of the lack of commitment from the Yaiza City Council in matters of security."

"With a population of 17,000 inhabitants, which doubles due to the existing accommodation offer, there are situations as inexplicable as that there is only one Local Police patrol on duty, in high-incidence shifts such as weekends," they explain from the police union.

Regarding the existing problems to cover the shifts, which the PP of Yaiza already denounced in November 2021, the same sources emphasize that "the command staff is conspicuous by its absence (there are 6 positions for Officer and one for Sub-inspector, all of them vacant), to which must be added another 11 vacancies for Local Police Officer."

The councilor and municipal spokesperson, Juan Monzón, regrets that the "only response that has been offered by Mayor Oscar Noda" has been precisely "the lack of communication with the union delegates", and that "it is costing the Yaiza City Council the payment of legal costs for the judicial proceedings that have been lost."

"The excuses are no longer valid that these complaints are ideas of the PP, that if we have demonstrated anything during this entire term is a serious and rigorous work, and that the only thing that worries and occupies us is the correct functioning of the Local Police service and the safety of the residents of the municipality," says Monzón.
