The councilors of the Popular Party in the City Council of San Bartolomé, Lorenzo Reyes and Sergio Tejera, have demanded "the installation of urban recycling bins both on the beaches of the municipality and on the Playa Honda avenue itself".
The popular representatives point out that "it is important that the City Council be consistent with the sustainability and environmental care policies announced by the government group and with the informative campaigns such as the one that took place this past summer."
"It does not make much sense to develop citizen awareness campaigns to encourage residents to sort their waste if the corporation then does not make an effort to provide the appropriate means to facilitate this task," says the councilor and deputy spokesperson, Sergio Tejera.
"If we really want San Bartolomé to advance effectively, both actions must go hand in hand," says Tejera, who also highlights "how contradictory it is that for years there has been a sign on the avenue encouraging passersby to recycle, when the bins that are there do not meet the conditions to do so, apart from the fact that they are often completely overflowing."
The councilors of the Popular Party estimate that the installation of this type of street furniture "would be a further plus when it comes to improving the equipment of the beach in order to achieve the long-awaited Blue Flag," a motion that they recall "was approved unanimously by all the political forces that make up the municipal plenary."
