The Popular Party asks the Teguise City Council for an "exemplary" action against the illegal occupation of homes in the municipality. The PP candidate for mayor, Rita Hernández, demands that action be taken in a "more effective and visible" way against this phenomenon.

The populars insist that they do not resign themselves to the "impunity with which the squatters have been settling". Likewise, she alludes to the situation in Costa Teguise, where there are several abandoned buildings and complexes.

Rita Hernández shows her concern about the occupation. “We are very concerned, especially about the lack of municipal reaction because we see how authentic residential colonies of squatters are being formed and how this formula of usurpation of property tends to spread and function as a call effect that stimulates new occupations.”

The Popular Party candidate for the Teguise City Council insists that “something that is clearly illegal cannot be normalized, neither by the residents nor by the tourist image that can be projected abroad of what is the economic engine of our municipality.”

The PP of Teguise considers that, although the current laws are "permissive with occupations", the Teguise City Council has room to act and tools to hinder what is nothing more than an illegal abuse that produces insecurity, lack of waste control and urban disorder. At this point, they insist that the party's aspirations for the municipality are quite the opposite.

The Popular Party includes in its Anti-Squatter Law proposal ideas such as: immediate eviction, preventing registration in these homes and that penalties be increased in the event of "mafia phenomena". But as long as the new rule is approved or, where appropriate, the corresponding demolitions, the squatter colonies "can and should be controlled. Occupants can be identified, access can be blocked,... In short, send the message that Teguise is a municipality against occupation".
