The plenary session of the Lanzarote Island Council has ratified the filing of an administrative appeal against the Vista Mar Wind Farm planned in Las Caletas in Costa Teguise.
This appeal was initiated by the previous government group, which decided to file an administrative litigation against the agreement, dated in March of this year, of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight Against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by the socialist José Antonio Valbuena, to execute the aforementioned wind farm.
The spokesperson for the mixed group of the plenary session of the Lanzarote Island Council, Óscar Noda, stressed the great crossroads that it is to protect the environment and move towards renewable energies. "Our natural environment is a treasure that we must protect," he insisted during his speech.
For her part, the spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Ariagona González, supported the presentation of the appeal, initiated during the government of the also socialist Dolores Corujo, and stressed that "regarding the implementation of renewable energies, we are in favor of their implementation, with adequate planning and organization."
Meanwhile, the nationalist councilor Jesús Machín Tavío asserted during his speech that with this decision it is important to "prioritize the implementation of this type of initiatives always, or almost always, of public ownership because that way we can say, where yes or where no." At the same time, he snapped at the socialist group that, "we have the same criteria, as with the marine cages."
