The Nuevas Generaciones of the Partido Popular of Tías has proposed an initiative to create a long-term youth plan in the municipality, with "an integral project of listening, training and accompaniment for youth". The PP has managed to approve this initiative in the last plenary session, held this Monday.

The proposal, defended by councilwoman Saray Rodríguez Marrero, has criticized "the absence of a long-term youth strategy in the municipality of Tías, despite the seven years that the current governing group has been leading the local administration".

Nuevas Generaciones have criticized that the policies aimed at young people in the municipality have been based, until now, on "specific activations and isolated actions, mostly linked to leisure or specific moments of the calendar, without continuous planning that accompanies youth in key stages of their lives".

From NNGG they have insisted that youth "cannot be addressed solely from sporadic events, but rather requires sustained projects over time that allow to know firsthand their concerns, guide them in decision-making and offer them real tools for their personal, educational, and professional development".

In this regard, the organization has achieved the implementation of a comprehensive youth program, based on active listening, presence in the neighborhoods and public spaces of the municipality, the periodic realization of training workshops, and the creation of stable spaces for youth participation. A project that allows to gather proposals, detect needs, and transform those ideas into useful initiatives for the young people themselves

This type of programs must include training actions in academic and professional guidance, accompaniment in early stages, promotion of youth associationalism and activities linked to employability, creativity, emotional health and social participation.

“The lack of stable training initiatives leaves many young people from Tías without clear references to make important decisions about their future. After so many years governing, it is time to move from specific actions to a project with vision, that listens and accompanies,” points out  the island president of Nuevas Generaciones, Ana Hernández.

From the youth organization they emphasize that investing in youth is investing in the future, and they demand that the Tías City Council bet on modern youth policies, structured and adapted to the current reality of the young people of the municipality.

“Young people don't ask for grand speeches, they ask to be heard and to have real opportunities to train and grow without having to leave. Governing is also thinking about those who are building their future today”, they have concluded.
